Best Insurance to be had...
Way back when I was first commissioned an officer, one of the perks was USAA. It was open only to officers. That meant that the pool of members that they insured pretty much all had college degrees and had enough on the ball to get a commission. This risk pool was crazy low. They could offer super rates and great service. As time as progressed they have become more inclusive but still weed out lots of high risk potential members.
In twenty years my wife and I have had a few accidents (one where I nearly totaled my car). Never had them say so much as boo about it. My rates have never gone up either because of an accident. They are the gold standard all other insurance companies aspire to achieve.
I\'ve read some of the other comments about how loss of jobs, etc. have caused problems with keeping membership. Remember, rates are low because they insure people that are responsible and can pay their bills. No job means that you are not as responsible anymore. That is not a dig at anyone, just financial reality.
If you can get membership get it. It is open to active duty military, so when you enlist, etc. sign up.
P.S. their bank products are also top notch, but that is a different review.
