A nightmare
My husband and I were insured by Unitrin for over a year and half. I checked my policy online on the 27th of October and to my surprise got a message that my policy was cancelled due to nonpayment on the 19th October. I have a submitted and cleared check in my possession and it cleared on the 2 October the payment was due on the 1 October. The representative I spoke to did not have a clue. First she advised that she could reinstate the account if I submitted a payment over the phone with her. Then she advised she could not take a payment but Unitrin would issue a refund for the cashed check in the amount of my monthly insurance payment. I would get the refund within three weeks. To make matter worse I had spoken to Unitrin around the 15 October to add an additional car to my policy and was advised not to do anything until I got my new bill. I did not get any kind of notification the there was a problem and drove around for approxm. 9 days without coverage.
I now have insurance through USAA and I am saving 120USD per month for 5 cars and I am cancelling my homeowners and save 6Usd per month and have 30% more coverage.
This is a poor company to do business with. I do not recommend this Insurer.
