I should have known better when I first signed up with Travelers through Costco. They quoted us a ridiculously low price for our house and autos. Then a few weeks later when I had already dropped my other insurance, they called back and bumped the price by another $700/year because they said I had a speeding ticket. This was all disclosed to them originally before they quoted us a price. The price was still lower than others, so we kept them, even though I was extremely angry. We had a windstorm claim on our house with them and we had no problems getting a settlement. Then I got another speeding ticket. They held off raising our rates for 1.5 years and then all of a sudden they jacked the rates, because I got a speeding ticket. Why didn't they do this 1.5 years ago? Probably because they have no clue. This September one of my speeding tickets was supposed to go off my record, but now they claim they are expanding their records from 3 to 5 years for a speeding ticket, so my rate does not decrease. We are also moving to a new house that we bought for about $140,000 more than our current home. We expected the rates to go up but they want to hit us for another $1200 per year with a $1000 deductible. Needless to say I will be shopping for new insurance.
