State Farm were bad

I am insured with State Farm. Everything was great for several years, I paid them on time and they did nothing. So far so good. However, when I actually had an accident (I was rear-ended on a slip road) State Farm got quite ugly, hugely under-valued my loss and generally treated me like a parriah; I was shocked further when my agent towed the company line completely and refused to lift a finger to help. I guess I should have known better.

Anyway I have not changed to another company yet because it seems each insurance company is the same; they want to take your premiums but will not pay a major claim without having a big stick used on them. When I look up statistics on which company is best, mostly what I find are statistics on which company offers the best value (read, cheapest) policies. This is not Walmart, I do not want a cheap policy, I need a policy which will pay out if and when I need it!
