State Farm Auto REFUSED to process claim!
After 8 years of coverage with State Farm, and no points or chargeable accidents on my license, I was hit by a drunk driver with a history of drunk driving. He passed out , veered into my lane, and hit me head on. The police report said the drunk was 100% responsible. His car was filled with beer cans.
The drunk was back on the road in one week. State Farm REFUSED. Adamantly REFUSED to process my claim. I was forced to work with the drunk's company, The Hartford. They delayed over 6 weeks before sending an adjuster to look at my totalled car. During this time they called me at my employer's business night and day, harrassing me to try and get me to admit some responsibility for the accident. The asked the same questions hundreds of times over and over while recording the conversation. It was like a police interrogation. They kept reading back my statements, altered, and asking me to confirm that was what I said. They tried to get me to say I was going fater than I was going, and that I was going too fast for conditions. None of it was true, and I held fast. During all this time, although I had rental coverage with State Farm, neither State Farm or Hartford would help me pay for a rental to get to work.
When Hartford finally sent the adjuster, the used their own set of books to value my late model car at less than low blue book value. They claimed my late model, previously immaculate sports coupe was "not a popular model".
State Farm even had the gall to mail me an "adjusted policy" which stated that if anyone talks to the other driver's company, they are allowed to refuse claims submissions. I never contacted Hartford, until State Farm REPEATEDLY refused to process the claim.
The drunk was a prominent man in town, with a judge for a friend. I think he FIXED this for the drunk, and got State Farm to treat ME like the offender instead. I consider both insurance companies CROOKED as can be.
