I was rear-ended by a Mercury covered driver.

I was rear-ended by a Mercury covered driver. The driver admitted guilt at the scene, gave me their insurance information and we went our way. I later spoke to the family and got their agent information. It took a week for the agent to finally take my call and he told me that he had spoken with the family and there would be no problem in them taking care of the damages etc. About a month later everything finally filtered up to an adjustor and they came out and surveyed the damages to my car and told me it would be just a few more days until they paid. A week later( 1.5 months total) I received a letter from Mercury stating that they are not taking legal responsibility because I backed into their client. So after hearing the driver admit guilt AND apologize to me, the family accept responsibility and the agent basically tell me the family is accepting responsibility, the adjustor denies the claim. I guess according to Mercury you can go around rear ending people and it's not their fault. I will never lightly deal with a Mercury insured individual again.
