Geico rep
My daughter-in-law, with baby, was rear-ended in Kansas by teen. Totally at fault his co paid. Geico sent papers to fill out on my daughter-in-law, decided she was risk (had two former tickets) added her to our policy w.o permission, tho she had own insurance. After many calls, $300 charge still on our policy. We returned from helping with Katrina recovery in New Orleans: Geico had cancelled our ponoicy for non-payment of the extra $, while we were gone, with only a phone notice, which we weren't home to get. They claimed the car was garaged in Kansas, tho we had it in VA., they said we had to let them know if a family member borrowed the car (I checked the policy and it said spouses of children covered.) Finally, after 5 months, found Ks. and Ne have "special rules" and Geico had to pay the medical for the baby. (All 4 passengers checked at emergency-mild whiplast for 3 women-$300: Geico claimed they paid $700 for baby,who in car seat had nothing at all!
When I told the 10th person I talked to at Geico that the left hand didn't seem to know what the right hand was doing-she said: "Oh, they don't want us to know what other depts have done: we might be too sympathetic toward the client."
Great customer orientation! And to top it off, I got a letter month later from Travelers, Geico's sister house insurer: they were canceling the house insurance for my son, who's deployed in Irag. No reason, called: they sent me the notice but "couldn't legally" tell me why. Could tell his wife, in Kansas, so she called. It was because the house was vacant. The house was NOT vacant. The company had some info which they never even verified. The house is now insured with another company, as will be all our policies soon!
Geico is underhandedsd, totally capricious and seems dedicated to giving reasons for any of their actions to the consumer. Stay away from them! After 4o years of safe driving, I know I deserve better!
