Most of the review on here do not hold alot of merit. There are situations where people are providing inaccurate or false information to get a less expensive premium. There are situations where people complain about a rate increase because they have an at-fault accident. And there are situations where the liability of who is at fault needs to be determined and most states allow 14 days for an insured to respond to their insurance company. Guess what most at fault parties to not respond to calls from their insurance company if they only have liability. This leads to people complaining about draging their feet.

GEICO is a call center insurance company. Like all call centers the focus is on efficency and profitability. The company is ALWAYS understaffed and most employees are being assigned more work than is humanly possible to do in one eight hour day.
When you call the service department they have two main objectives to upsell you on additional coverages or higher limits, and to get you off the phone as quick as possible. Many problem for which you called is not fixed before the call is ended. Most service calls are monitored and the employees have to pay fake compliments and engage the customer in small talk to get a good rating on the call. If they do not upsell you when a coverage is available they will receive a poor rating on the call. Because the company is so numbers orientiented it leads to very deceptive statements where you might have just purchased a new coverage with out being 100% aware.
