I had Esurance for about three years, before my Policy was cancelled without notice. This a honest opinion about this company.
Rates: The rates I paid were way more than any other insurance company, I was later to find out. Being in the military I wanted something that I could get immediately. I paid 900 dollars for 6 months in Abington, PA (philly suburb). This was for liability with limited Tort.
My Story: Esurance would automatically renew itself after 6 months. They would charge my credit card, and life was good. After changing credit cards my second year, they never were able to charge me for the third year. I called a couple months in advance knowing that my cc had changed. When i called, I had found out that my policy had been cancelled 3 months earlier, even before the date my policy was to expire. I usually pay 6 months in advance, and what they informed me was that they because I had not filled out an additional form (some form they never told me about), that I was receiving full tort. They had tried to rebill me for the difference, but since I had a different cc, they charged me the new price, and cancelled my policy. I explained that I had been a customer for three years, and this was the first time I had heard about this. I told them I pay 6 months in advance, and for them to charge me again was ridiculous. I was told to fax in some form, and that it would be taken care of. I faxed the form in, and instead of adding my additional three months of policy, they sent me a check for 56.87, and cancelled my account. I ended getting USAA which cost me 345 for the same coverage.
My belief is that this company is super disorganized. I paid 6 months in advance. Who buys something, pays full price, and then is charged secretly again. When I called, I was calling to get another policy. Instead of working with me, having been with the company for three years, they decided to drop me.
Worst insurance ever.
