I was excited by Esurance's low rates. However, six weeks into my brand new policy I noticed that an additional $67 had been deducted from my account. I called Esurance to inquire and they claimed that they were unable to verify my driving history and as a result, increased my rate. I have had a clean driving record with no tickets for the past 9 years,and submitted that information to them within the first week of coverage. And- Esurance's own website listed my driving history as "clean!" Futhermore, I received no notice of this midmonth billing (They issue u a payment schedule at the time you purchase your policy). A BBB and Dept of Insurance complaint seemed to magically decrease my rate. But I wonder how many other policy holders have been billed additional fees and may not even be aware... Thinking of contacting a lawyer to see about a class action suit.
