Deceptive On-Line Auto Insurance Quotes
Due to the economic downturn, I decided to "shop around" for less expensive auto insurance. With a flawless driving record and no moving violations, I initiated an on-line claim with AAA: full coverage - auto. After I provided a series of answers to personal questions, my quote returned at a GREAT RATE -- exceeding my expectations. Unfortunately, the great quote turned sour as I spoke to a personal representative of AAA. The representative's quote was double the amount, indicating the on-line quote did not include collision insurance, although it indicated "YOUR QUOTE..." IN BOLD BLACK LARGE FONT. The AAA representative also agreed the on-line quote may be considered deceptive. Word of caution: Do not accept AAA's initial on-line quote as factual. It is a way to deceive consumers into an auto insurance rate which is, like the old adage, "too good to be true".
